Lake Shore Savings joined with Re-Tree WNY during the month of April, 2013 as they opened their new Snyder, NY branch at 4950 Main Street just off the I-290 next to the Lord Amherst Hotel, just west of the 290, Main Street exit.  We planted a tree in front (between the sidewalk and the street) and we recieved a very generous contribution from the bank to continue our volunteer reforestation!

Orchard Fresh, a new concept in specialty food shopping in Orchard Park!  They donated 1% of their sales n April, 2013 for opening day of their new North Buffalo Road store. The store specializes in upscale, healthy, natural, and organic foods.  It’s a division of Western New York’s Tops Friendly Markets, a terrific local company that gives back to our beloved area.

Flying Bison Brewery and Try-It Distributing folks will be pitching in to celebrate a sparkling new brewery that will open on Seneca Street in the Larkinville section of Buffalo later this year (approximately September, 2014)!  Watch for a special beer to be brewed for Re-Tree,  We’ll also gather to plant many more street trees in the Larkinville area this fall!

The Buffalo News has been a ground floor supporter of Re-Tree WNY since our founding in November, 2006. Publisher Stanford Lipsey (now Publisher Emeritus) and his wife Judith kicked-off the Buffalo News Green Leaf program which raised $350,00 in summer, 2007, and renewed the campaign in 2009 which raised another $180,000. The most recent was “Green Goal,” it ran January 5-February 26, 2012.  The program added $30,000 to Re-Tree to continue toward our goal of planting 30,000 trees.

Entercom Buffalo, LLC donated airtime on its Sabres flagship station, WGR SportsRadio 550, and the six other radio stations it owns to support the “Green Goal” program in early 2012.  “Re-Tree WNY fits in perfectly with our major Entercom corporate initiative, called ‘1 Thing’, which targets environmental causes that deserve support,” said Greg Ried, Vice President/General Manager of the Entercom radio stations. “We are pleased that our collaboration on this campaign generated funding for their planting efforts in 2012 and beyond”.

Gerdau AmeriSteel, located at 776 Ohio Street in Buffalo, has supported us by donations for each ton of scrap metal recycled in November, 2009. They also donated three 300 gallon watering tanks for Re-Tree to keep our trees watered. Ron Timm stated: “Our employees are empowered by our company to seek out organizations that merit the support of Gerdau AmeriSteel in the communities that we operate. Our people chose Re-Tree WNY because we have found it to be in keeping with our mission to give back to the environment in a sustainable manner with a project that can have the greatest impact”.

National Grid has been a partner with Re-Tree WNY almost since we began. They have donated $175,000 to Re-Tree WNY which has helped us buy hundreds of trees. They are also presenting sponsor of our Community Coordinators. Our coordinators wear the jackets proudly in recognition of what National Grid has done for Re-Tree WNY!

Buffalo Enviro-Fair has been presented each year since the first one we did with Al Gore’s speech about global warming at UB’s North Campus in April, 2007.
