Publisher Stanford Lipsey (now Publisher Emeritus) and his wife Judith kicked-off the Buffalo News Green Leaf program which raised $350,00 in summer, 2007, and renewed the campaign in 2009 which raised another $180,000. The most recent was “Green Goal,” it ran January 5-February 26, 2012. The program added $30,000 to Re-Tree to continue toward our goal of planting 30,000 trees.
Entercom Buffalo, LLC donated airtime on its Sabres flagship station, WGR SportsRadio 550, and the six other radio stations it owns to support the “Green Goal” program in early 2012. “Re-Tree WNY fits in perfectly with our major Entercom corporate initiative, called ‘1 Thing’, which targets environmental causes that deserve support,” said Greg Ried, Vice President/General Manager of the Entercom radio stations. “We are pleased that our collaboration on this campaign generated funding for their planting efforts in 2012 and beyond”.
